What is going to happen to my unit at HUP?

Garry Scheib
Executive Director, HUP
CEO, UPHS
The future strategy for inpatient bed planning post-trauma move in January 2015 is still in development based on fluctuating factors of market demand and physician capacity. Early indications for intensive care bed needs are pointing toward growth in the volume of medical intensive care patients. Future patient demand for medical/surgical beds is declining and transitioning to outpatient care. If these trends continue, HUP most likely will close Dulles 6 for renovations and reopen with a new service in late 2015 or early 2016. Rhoads 2 NICU and Rhoads 5 SICU will remain intensive care units, however patient populations may change.
